Tickled Pink hosted its 11th annual Tickled Pink for Bright Pink event on February 19th in Fulton Market at the Morgan Manufacturing Building. The event gathered over 1,300 guests to come together for a great cause: generate awareness about breast cancer and save lives. This event is known as “Chicago’s hottest party for a great cause.” Tickled Pink hosts the party every year and has partnered with the non-profit Bright Pink, the only national non-profit organization that focuses solely on the prevention and early detection of both breast and ovarian cancer.

Bright Pink is an organization that I have been volunteering with for the last three years. I attended Tickled Pink for Bright Pink in its 8th year and felt a strong connection to the organization and its mission, and began volunteering with them. I have helped volunteer and work several Tickled Pink Events since then, and this year I had the pleasure of both volunteering and attending!

Over the holidays, Bitches Who Brunch hosted a “Sip and Shop” event at Kendra Scott with proceeds benefiting Bright Pink. As young women, we understand the importance of breast and ovarian health, and were so happy to support such an amazing cause.

Tickled Pink founder Jodi Fyfe and Bright Pink founder Lindsay Avner have joined forces for 11 years to spread their mission and honor Jodi’s cousin Carrie Kenney, who lost her battle with breast cancer at the young age of 35. Both of the hosts greeted guests and then gave an inspiring welcome speech emphasizing their mission and why it is so important to them.

The evening began with guests greeted at the door with champagne. Lindsey and Jodi gathered the guests, thanking those in attendance and the many businesses, volunteers, and sponsors that help put together this event every year. Then the duo encouraged everyone to party their butts off, and that is just what everyone did.

Throughout the night guests enjoyed tastings at chef stations from over 40 local restaurants that included STK Chicago, Nico Osteria, Unite Bar and Grill, Bar Siena, Gene & Georgetti, and La Stanza. The food was incredible! Dessert tables included stations with pink glazed doughnuts from Stan’s Doughnuts, Nothing Bundt Cakes, and many other sweet treat businesses.

Guests danced the night away on the dance floor to the spins of DJ Betty Ngyuyen and then to a huge favorite, the Chicago Players, who sang everything from popular hip hop songs to top 100s and oldies. Throughout the night, Chicago firemen and paramedics sold raffle tickets and posed for photos with partygoers (and handed out pink beads!)

Raffle items included “Guys Night” and “Girls Night” packages, among other gifts. There also was a duck raffle game where guests could randomly win from an array of prizes, ranging from pink nail polish to staycations at local hotels. I made out with a nail polish, a dinner, and a very cute (and pink!) Under Armour sweatshirt — score! The lovely ladies from Kendra Scott Michigan Avenue were also set up with a table, in which guests could pay $50 for a mystery box that contains a jewelry item ranging from $50 to $150. I was waiting until the line died down, and got to the table just as they had sold the last box!

Over the last 11 years, Tickled Pink for Bright Pink has raised over $1.5 million dollars for the fight against breast and ovarian cancer. It is easy to say from my own experience that this event gets better and better every year, and they inspire more and more individuals to get involved with the cause and support their mission.
